There are some new phrases and words that the students may not remember well. So before leading in, I led them to review some important new words and phrases briefly.

Generally speaking, it is not difficult for the students to understand the text.As it is a piece of journal about travelling, I asked them some easy questions about the topic. And then,I showed them some beautiful pictures to get them interested in the topic.Ss had a better understanding of these famous places of interest.And at the same time, I made a brief introduction of the Mekong river.Ss got the further understanding of the river.And I showed them a map to introduce where the river begins and which countries does the river flow through.

A brief introduction of the Mekong river

Purposes:

To get the background knowledge of the Mekong River

To arouse their interest to know more about the river and the passage.

Actually students should be encouraged to do speed reading in the first period of reading lesson. But the students in my class are weak in pronunciation ,so before fast reading,I let them listen to the recorder,and pay attention to the pronunciation of each word .During fast reading, I asked the Ss to read the whole passage quickly and got the main idea of each paragraph. Usually, the main idea of each paragraph is the first sentence or the last sentence, but this text is not. So the main idea of each paragraph were matched because the Ss are lack of the skill of summarizing the main idea by themselves.
