II. Analysis of the teaching materials

The topic of this Unit is about animals. It is from the Unit 4 of PEP English book, the first semester of grade 3. Students will learn some new words duck, dog, bear, cat, pig and the target language “What’s this? It’s a…..” and also know how to love and protect the animals.

III. Analysis of the students

Our students are in Grade 3. They are active and curious, interested in new things. They don’t have any basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should attach importance to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language.

IV. Teaching aims

1. Learn the new words, such as: duck, dog, bear, cat, pig

2. Learn how to use the structure “What’s this? It’s a…..”

3. Learn how to love animals.

V. Teaching important points

1. Let the students grasp the new words they have learned, and make them know how to use these words in practical situation.

2. Let the students use the simple words or sentences to express the love for animals.

VI. Teaching difficult points

1. Make the students know how to read the statements and understand the meaning of each statement.

2. Develop the students’ ?love for animals.
