Teaching Aims & Demands：

1. Learn kinds of TV shows and some useful phrases , such as talent show, game show, sports show, sitcom, news , learn from, find out and so on.

2. Talk about preferences about TV shows and make plans.

3. Cultivate hobbies and learn to keep a balance between hobbies and studies.

Teaching Methods：

Memory games, pair work, group work, debate and so on.

Teaching Procedures：

Ⅰ. Lead-in

1. Enjoy and sing the song “ Papa, where are you going? ” together.

2. Free talk:

What do you think of this song?

Do you like watching TV in your spare time?

What’s your favorite TV program?

Ⅱ. New words

Learn the names of the TV shows. Show the pictures of different kinds of TV shows to guide the students to memorize.

Ⅲ. Memory Game

Stand up as quickly as they can, and speak out the names of the TV shows as quickly as they can.

Ⅳ. Pair work

1. Ask the students one by one.

A: Do you want to watchXXXXX?

B: Yes, I do./ No, I don’t.

A: Why do/ don’t you like watchingXXXXX?

2. Pair work . Make similar dialogues with partners.

1. Listen to Lin Hui and Sally’s conversation. Number the TV shows [1-5]. (2a)

2. Listen again. Complete the sentences.(2b)

ⅤII. Group work

Suppose we plan to watch TV tonight. Make a survey in your group. What do they plan to watch? What do they think of the shows? What do they expect to learn from the shows? Then give us a report.

VIII. Debate

Nowadays, more and more students like watching TV. They think they can learn a lot from TV. Do you agree with them? Watching TV is good or bad? What’s your opinions? Discuss with your partners. Then we will have a debate.
