教材分析
本单元的主题本单元以天文学为话题。
教学重点
Warming Up 部分主要引导学生讨论地球上的生命起源、世界各地的宗教和文化生命起源的看法,然后观察课文标题、预测文章内容。
Reading 部分讲述了地球上生命的起源
教学难点?
学生理解课文,把握文章大意,理解地球上的生命起源
教学方法? Discussing and cooperative-learning
教具准备? The multimedia and other normal teaching tools

Knowledge aims:
1. Get the students to learn some useful new words and expressions.
Ability aims:
1. Develop the students’ reading ability.
3. Get the students to learn how to make a letter.

Enable the students to master writing skills and write excellent writing
教学过程
Knowledge aims:
Know more universe and solar system,the science of the stars and the development of life.
Ability aims:
Talk about about the science of the stars and the development of life and how to protect the earth.
Emotional aims:
Enable Ss to learn how to protect the earth correctly.
Teaching important points:
a. Talk about the beginning of life on the earth.
b. Discuss the order of development of life.
Teaching difficult points:
a. Understand the beginning of life on the earth.
b. Discuss the questions:
What should we do to protect our earth?
Teaching methods:
a. Skimming and scanning.
b. Asking-and-answering activity to check the Ss’ understanding of the text.
c. Individual, pair or group work to finish each task.

Step 1. Warming up:
Ss: enjoy a video made by some students to lead in the eight plants and the legends of origin of life on the earth.

Step 2. Reading
1. Listening and reading aloud
Now please listen to the recording and then read the text aloud. Pay attention to how the native speaker is reading along and where the pauses are within each sentence. Find out the main idea for each paragraph
part 1 : (para 1—3) The development of the earth
part 2 : (para 4—5) The development of life
Ss: read part1 and answer the following questions
Stage 1: The development of the earth
(1). After the Big Bang, what was the earth like?
(2). What happened next?
(3). What appeared as the earth cooled down?
Ss: read part 2 and answer the following questions. Some students try to find the right order to place them.
Stage 2 : The development of life
(1).What life developed after water appeared?
(2).What life developed in water next?
(3).What about on land?
(4). What life developed next on land?
(5).What life developed after forests appeared?
(6).What life developed after dinosaurs?
(7). What life developed after mammals?
Step 3.Summery
Ss try to retell the passage
(1).fellow the teacher.
(2).retell one by one
(3).retell together.
Step 4. Group work
Ss: work in group to finish a poster about how to protect our earth and ourselves .
Group leader to report their result.
Step 5. Performance
Some students will give us wonderful performance about their own experience.
T: conclude the text and point out that the earth is our mother and we should protect the earth.
Step 6. Homework
Ss: finish the following writing task.
Smog has become the most serious problem . We should try to solve it and at least we should do some changes.

The students have little knowledge of astronomy, especially, in talking about the science of the stars in English. So I designed a video acted by students to encourage students to talk about how life began on the earth correctly and freely.
