Unit5 What’s your hobby? 说课稿

Good morning, ladies and gentleman. It’s my great honor to stand here and say the lesson to all of you. The title of my lesson is Unit5 What’s your hobby? And it’s the first period of this lesson.

First of all, I want to share my teaching conception with you. As the saying goes the interest is the best teacher, and according to the new teaching ideas, I obeyed the rules such as students-centered, teacher-led, learning by doing, etc.

Next, I’ll say my lesson from the following six parts, and they are the Analysis of the Teaching Material, the Analysis of the Students’ Learning Situation, the Analysis of Learning, the Analysis of Teaching, the Analysis of Teaching Procedures and the Teaching Reflection.

The first part is the Analysis of the Teaching Material.

This lesson is from English Base Module 1, unit5, the first period. It mainly talks about one’s hobbies. In order to have a good preparation for the rest contents of this unit, and raise the students’ learning interests, today’s lesson includes Lead in, the 3rd part and the 7th part of Listening and speaking. According to the teaching syllabus and the students’ learning situation, I settled down the following teaching goals:

First, the knowledge goal

The students are able to master the words and expressions about hobbies, and they are able to use the sentence patterns “What do you like/love/enjoy?” “What’s your hobby?”

Second, the ability goal

The students are able to talk about hobbies by using the target language, and they are able to understand others’ hobbies.

Third, the emotional goal

The students should be able to know their own hobbies clearly by finishing the tasks, and they can enhance the understanding between the classmates through oral communication.

My teaching importance is that the students are able to talk about one’s hobbies by using the target language.

My teaching difficulty is that the students can master the usage of these gerunds.

Part two, the Analysis of the Students’ Learning Situation.

My students have wide interests, and the most importantly, they are willing to show themselves. They like learning by doing. However, their English foundations are weak in different levels, and they are lack of confidence in English learning. They don’t like learning by repetition.

Part three, the Analysis of Learning. According to the students’ characteristics and their English learning levels, in this class, students have chances to learn by themselves, work in pairs and work in groups. In this way, they can learn from each other and help each other.

Part four, the Analysis of Teaching.

Based on the new teaching ideas, I designed this lesson by using EasiNote 5(希沃白板5), it’s a useful means of information technology. And I used the Task-based Approach, Gaming Approach, and the Contrast Approach.

Part five, the Analysis of Teaching Procedures

Step1: Warming up!

Greet the class as usual. Then have a talk with the students about the things they like doing so as to help them to talk about their hobbies by using “I like doing sth.”

Step2: New concept!

【Task one】

Invite volunteers to finish the first game, help students to learn about the key phrases of this lesson. Then have students enjoy the pictures and talk about related phrases. Help them to remember these phrases, and prepare for the following tasks.

Then, let students introduce their hobbies to their desk-mates, describe likes and dislikes. In this way, they can know their own hobbies clearly.

【Task two】

Invite two students to join the second game---Finding the family members. Then encourage students to classify the following two dialogues and compare them. Next, encourage them to make up their own dialogues.

【Task three】

First, show the names of the clubs to the students.

Then divide students into groups of four. Have them interview one another about their hobbies, and then choose one club they are interested to join in.

Next, collect information and see which club is the most popular club. Encourage students to make new friends and develop more hobbies.

【Task four】

In this part, students are able to finish two exercises in a certain time. And then check the answers; emphasize the usage of these gerunds. At last, invite students to play a game and compete with each other by practicing the gerunds we’ve learned today.

Step3 Summary

Students of different levels sum up their learning outcomes.

Step 4 Homework

About the homework, I designed two kinds; students in different levels can choose either one they can. And they can review the key points by watching the micro-class after class.

Part6. Teaching Reflection

After this class, the students consolidated and practiced the words, expressions and the sentence patterns about hobbies, and also they consolidated the usage of gerunds. Students of different levels all got different harvests and progress. They raised their learning interests, and they got the team spirit and a sense of competition.
