T:Look at the pictures of 1a and guess the meanings

(make sure the students understand what they mean)

Match the pictures with the New year’s resolutions.Number the pictures[1---5]

Step 3: Role-play the conversation(1b)

1.Ask two students to read the dialogue to the class.

2.Work with your partner and make your own conversations about the phrases in 1a.

3.Explain the phrases to the class.

Choose a new partner. Use the phrases in 1a to make conversations.

5.Share the own conversation

Step4 Listening(1c&1d)

1.Play the tape the first time. Let the students only listen.

2.Listen to the tape carefully twice. This time ask students to circle the phrases on the list in 1a that they hear on the tape.

3.Listen again. Write how the people are going to make their resolutions work.

4.Play the tape again. Let students finish the task and fill in the blanks.

Step 5:Pair work(1e)

Make a list of other resolutions and how you are going to make them work. Then discuss them with your group.

Summarize the important and sentences.
