Passive Voice

＝

语态：表示主语和谓语动词之间的关系。

英语有两种语态，即主动语态和被动语态。

主动语态：表示主语是动作的执行者。被动语态：表示主语是动作的承受者。

Many students study English. (主动语态）

English is studied by many students.(被动语态)汉语中常用“被”、“给”、“由”、“受”等词用来表示被动，而英语用：助动词be + vpp.构成。

语态

被动语态的用法

（1）不知道或没必要指出谁是动作的执行者 时

It’s said / reported / + that XXXXX据说/据报道

It’s reported that it will rain tomorrow.

据报道，明天会下雨。

（2）强调动作的承受者，这时应用by短语。

The cup was broken by David.

（3）作客观说明时，常采用一种被动语态句型.

一般现在时的被动语态结构：

am/is/are+vpp.(过去分词）

Cars are made in China .

The desk is made of wood.

English is taught in our school.

被动语态的几种句型

1. 肯定句 主语 + be + vpp. + (byXXXXX)

2. 否定句 主语 + be + not +vpp. + (byXXXXX)

3. 一般疑问句 Be + 主语 +vpp. + (byXXXXX)?

Tea is not grown by people in Hangzhou.

被动语态的4种特殊类型

1.带双宾语句子的被动语态.一般把间接宾语变为

被动语态的主语，则另一个不动。如把直接宾语变为被动语态的主语则需在间宾前加 for 或 to

－I was given a book by him.

－A book was given to me by Tom.

2. I bought him a book.

－He was bought a book by me.

－A book was bought for him by me.

2.含有短语的主动语态变被动语态

-----My child is taken good care of .

---The radio was turned off (by me).

即hear , watch , see , make , let ,这些词在变

被动句时必须加to.

1.I saw him play basketball last Sunday.

3.在主动语态中省去to

在变为被动语态时应补出来

4.动词的主动形式表示被动之意

1). 系动词无被动语态：以主动形式表示被动之意。常见的系动词有： be动词; 表感觉类的look, feel, sound, smell, taste；表变化类的turn, go ,become; 还有seem; sell well等。

It smells nice. / The books sell well.

2).下列动词(词组)没有被动式: happen,

take place, break out, belong to, cost, last, stay
