Dear Mr. and Mrs. Green,

I can hardly believe that one week has gone by so quickly and that I’ve come back safely to China. I’m writing to extend my sincere gratitude to your family.

To begin with, thank you so much for treating me as part of the homestay family, which indeed made me feel at home. Then, without your company and introduction, I couldn’t have had such a good understanding of New York.Besides, I was really impressed by the Statue of Liberty. Last but not least ,it was your encouragement and patience that helped me develop my confidence in English.

You did make my trip both educational and memorable/enjoyful, which I’ll cherish forever. Looking forward to meeting you next time. Best wishes!

Dear Mike,

I'm writing to tellyou something about face-changing.

Not only is it an important part of traditional Sichuan Opera, but also it is valued as one of China's national treasures. It's said that it originated from the assumption that ancient people used to draw different patterns on their faces to scare away beasts.(Its origin is said to be associated with a practice of ancient people ,in which they drew .....).And later on,this skill was developed into an art.

Now face-changing is universally considerd magical because its actors can change masks in seconds to show various emotions and characteristics of the role.

This art is so unique to China that it 's worthwile for you to see the live performance.Hopefully,my introduction will be of help to you.

Be Grateful

Hello, everyone! It's my great honor(pleasure) to deliver a speech here and my topic is “Be grateful”.

I firmly believe that our society will be more harmonious if everyone feels grateful to it and that with a thankful heart, love and happiness will always keep us company. So significant is gratitude that we're supposed to do something to thank those who help us. We can start with small things, such as making tea for our parents or helping them wash feet, offering thank-you cards to our teachers and sending letters of appreciation to our friends.

Since Thanksgiving Day is around the corner, let's take action from today on. Thank you for your listening. (112)

Dear Henry,

How is everything going ? Knowing you’re interested in cycling, I’m more than delighted to invite you to take a bike trip along the Silk Road with me during the summer vacation.

We’re to meet on July 20 in Xi’an, the starting place of the travel.

Then we’ll ride through Shanxi Province and finally stop in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, covering a length of approximately 660 kilometers.

It’s part of the whole Silk Road, during which we can surely admire the splendid scenery. To fully enjoy the journey, we’d better prepare some necessities with us, such as suitable clothes, money, and tents.

Please confirm your participation at your earliest convenience. I’m expecting your company.

Dear editor,

I’m Li Hua, a senior school student. I’d like to say something about the traffic problems. Recently, I witnessed that a boy ran the red light and was injured by a speedy car. What a pity!

I noticed that more and more traffic accidents happened on the road, most of which resulted from people’s breaking the traffic rules, such as disobeying traffic signals and moving on regardless of speed limits. When accidents happen, what we lose is not only time and money but health or even our lives. The problem of traffic safety is an urgent one because it concerns the safety of all of us.

So the government should carry out effective management of the traffic systems and everyone should raise the awareness of traffic safety and strictly obey the traffic rules.

The Origin of Tea

The origin of tea in China is credited to the legendary Emperor Shennong, who is said to have lived in the most ancient era of Chinese history. Shennong was famous for his wise edicts, and one such edict required that people boil their water before they drink it. This led to the discovery of tea.

The Legend of the First Cup of Tea

One summer day, while visiting a distant part of his realm, Shennong and the court stopped to rest. In accordance with his ruling, the servants began to boil water for the court to drink. Dried leaves from a nearby bush fell into the boiling water, and a brown substance was infused into the water. As a scientist, the Emperor was interested in the new liquid, drank some, and found it quite refreshing. And so, according to Chinese legend,?tea was created in 2737 BC.

Tea Was First Used as Medicine

Before the 8th century BC, tea in China was primarily used as a medicine. Ancient Chinese people often boiled fresh tea leaves and drank the infusion. They believed that tea?reduced heat?and?improved eyesight.

Dear Bob,

Knowing that you’re interested in Chinese tea, I’m more than delighted to share something about it with you.

As is widely acknowledged, Chinese tea has a long and fascinating history, which was first discovered by the Chinese and used as medicine. As time went by, it evolved into a type of beverage, and became an integral part of Chinese culture. Now due to vast territory, China grows different kinds of tea like green ,white and Oolong tea in plenty of places, such as Zhejiang, Fujian and Anhui Province. Undoubtedly , drinking tea brings great benefits. Not only can it rid

people of tiredness and refresh the mind ,but also it helps people lose weight.
