Read the passage—Andy, the Android, and practice reading skills(skimming and scanning)

Learn how to write a robot’s file

Learn how to write an imaginary composition to describe an ideal robot

2.Enable students to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of some types of robots.

V. Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Lead-in

Talk about robot

Do you know what things robots can do?

Step 2. Reading

Ask the students to read the text and find out what is Andy and it’s characters.

(1) What is the main idea of this passage?

(2) What does Andy work as in the team?

He works as a striker.

(3) Who is Andy’s coach?

His programmer.

(4) What does he think of the team that won first place? Why?

2. Read the passage carefully and fill in the file for Andy in exercise 1 on page 23.

Step 3 Writing

1. Create your own android. Fill in the file in exercise 2 and compare with your partner.

2. Write a description of your android and what it can do. You may draw a picture of it if you wish. Use your notes and the sample passage on page 24 to help you.
